The Register of Certified Technical Security Professionals (CTSP)

For many years, the security systems industry has been unregulated, often resulting in poor levels of service.  The need to address training, probity and safe working practices is increasing, linked with the demand for raising industry standards.

The CTSP Register is a searchable register for consumers, employers and contractors to find and validate professional competence.

It has been formed as a means of recognising the competency of technical security professionals fulfilling roles in the security and fire systems sectors.  This includes engineers/technicians (installation, maintenance and commissioning), system designers, auditors and consultants.

Who can become a Registrant?

There are two pathways to becoming CTSP registered: The Standard Pathway and the Vocational Pathway.

To become a CTSP Registrant, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria and provide supporting evidence. You can find out exactly what’s required here.

Publication of your name on the official CTSP website – perfect for generating sales leads and employment opportunities

Professional recognition and membership of a certified professional network

Reassurance and confidence for customers, potential sales prospects, contractors and prospective employers

CTSP accreditation after your name (e.g. James Smith CTSP)

Use of the CTSP logo on your advertising materials, vehicle livery and website

Application Process

There are two Application Pathways to CTSP Registration: ‘Standard Pathway’ and ‘Vocational Pathway’.

Standard Pathway

For individuals with recognised industry qualifications. Click here to see the required criteria.

Vocational Pathway

For individuals without recognised industry qualifications. Applicants are required to demonstrate competency by submission of portfolio evidence, click here to see the required criteria.
All applications should be made using CTSP’s online application form.

You must upload a number of documents to demonstrate they meet the required standard of qualification and experience. You must also read and sign a declaration of good character and confirm you have no convictions for dishonesty, assaults or sexual crimes.

Fees

A non-refundable application fee of £25 is payable upon submission.
Thereafter, a £50 annual registration fee is payable upon successful admittance to the Register. The renewal fee is payable on the anniversary date of application, together with renewed declaration confirming any material changes within the previous 12 months and evidence of Continual Professional Development (CPD).

Application Process

The application process is overseen by the CTSP Registrar and technical assessments of applicants are managed by the Registration Manager which is supported by an administration team.

UK Industry Endorsement

The CTSP Register is endorsed by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), the Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) and recognised industry bodies.

In conclusion, this demonstrates a commitment to significantly drive the need for established professional standards in the field of technical security.

International Endorsement

Dubai’s Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) has also endorsed the CTSP Register which provides international recognition, especially the Middle East.
