ABOUT TAVCOM TRAINING

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

The UK’s leading provider of technical security training

When Tavcom Training launched in 1995 – the brainchild of Mike Tennent – its objective was to address a genuine gap in the security industry. By delivering credible and practical training courses to those ‘on the tools’, Tavcom quickly developed a reputation as the place to go for all technical security training.

With the growth in manufacturers of security technology in the late 90s – including CCTV, access control, alarms, and IP networking – there was a real need for training not just for the kit itself, but for the management, installation and design of such systems.

Although Mike retired in 2015, his legacy lives on with now more than 100 courses enabling businesses of all sizes around the world to upskill their staff.

Vendor agnostic approach

Tavcom’s training is vendor-agnostic, teaching the core technical concepts, rather than benchmarking one manufacturer against another. It is this focus that makes our training unique. We want each learner to be able to apply their knowledge to any technology.

With over 100 training courses in our portfolio, there is just about any technical training course that is right for you. The choice depends on your role, your goals, and your interests.

Tavcom also played a huge part in the creation and operation of the Certified Technical Security Professionals (CTSP) Register. This was formed as a means of recognising the competency of Technical Security Professionals fulfilling roles in the security and fire systems sectors.

It allows consumers, employers and contractors to search the register to validate professional competence and is endorsed by the BSIA, SSAIB and other recognised industry bodies.

State-of-the-art facilities

Equipped with the latest generation of analogue and digital equipment supplied by well-known brands, we have a choice of two training facilities, for your convenience.

In the south of England, our Bishop’s Waltham (Hampshire) training centre provides you with the perfect venue to learn on the latest kit. Whilst in the north, our Shipley (Yorkshire) training centre has the facilities and equipment to provide the first-rate learning you would expect.

Our team of account managers is passionate about our courses and why we do what we do. They will talk about your career aspirations, your preferred way of learning, and walk you through choosing the right training for you.

Why not contact them to see how they can help you?

UK and international learning options

We deliver a vast range of interactive classroom, online and bitesize learning courses, with study times ranging from an hour or two to five days. Whatever your industry, occupation or experience, if you have an interest in any form of security system, you will find a Tavcom training course for you

For those who cannot attend scheduled courses in the UK, Tavcom offers a comprehensive service for international learners. Our fully qualified tutors can conduct standard courses or customised training anywhere around the globe.

All equipment necessary for Tavcom’s own brand of hands-on tuition is made available at the venue. In recent years we have conducted many ‘in company’ courses in mainland Europe, the USA and the Middle East.
